In honor of Veterans Day next week (Wed., Nov. 11), the Veterans Memorial Theatre Company is presenting This Is My Country, a compilation of stories of American soldiers from as far back as the Revolutionary War up to Vietnam. The play, written and directed by Old Saybrook-resident and VMTC founder Herman Shemonsky, the production is sort of a "history pageant," according to the production's spokesperson, Frank Bradley. It's also family-oriented, and features music from different wartime periods.

Performances begin on Nov.6 and continue through Nov. 7 and 8, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for veterans, seniors and students. This production is being held at the Mandell Jewish Community Center, 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford. Call (800) 697-2787 for more info, or go online to vetstheatre.org.
